One way to fix the rev counter problem on early 2.1 Diesel XM´s The shown box is situated in the ECU compartment in the engine bay. The ECU in question takes care of the exhaust gas recirculation, which is mounted in some early 2.1 TD XM´s. Theres is a fault in this box, which makes the rev. counter stop working. The solution shown here, is rather radical, as it takes the EGR out of order. This means that the pollution of the car will increase slightly to the level of any other diesel car without EGR. It does not do anything else, and the fuel consumption is exactly the same. The procedure is as follow: 1) Take out the ECU box and screw the top off (4 Philips screws) 2) If you have a desolder pump, desolder the mainboard. Solder a piece of wire from pin 8 to pin 4, and solder a 100UF capacitor from pin 11 to pin 12 as shown in the pictures. 3) Assemble the box again and put it back in the ECU compartment. Hopefully, this should make the rev counter work. It did, at least, in my car. kind regards Jens Bovbjerg
